Men's Basketball Drops Close One to PSU York

YORK, Pa. - Despite a tough battle, the Penn State New Kensington men's basketball team fell to Penn State York Saturday. The Lions move to 4-9 overall and 2-6 in the PSUAC, while York improves to 11-5 and 7-2 in the PSUAC. 

Senior Dorian Broadwater (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) scored New Kensington's first ten points, including two three-pointers, to give his team a 10-3 advantage. York battled back to tie the game at 10, but New Kensington answered back with a 12-2 run that gave them their largest lead of the game, 22-12. Broadwater contributed another six points during that stretch. York responded with a 17-4 run to take control, 29-26. The teams exchanged the lead for the next few minutes until New Kensington pulled out in front for a 47-39 advantage at the half. 

The game remained tight the rest of the way. With 2:37 left, the teams were tied 79-79. However, York pulled together a 8-2 run to end the game and lock up a 87-81 victory. 

After his 20 first-half points, Broadwater finished the game with 28. Keith Corbett (Siliver Springs, Md./Methodist) contributed 18 points and a 11 rebounds, while Juwan Willis (Swissvale, Pa./Woodland Hills) added 14 points and a game-high 10 assists. Antonio Hill (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) tallied 13 points.

New Kensington returns home for a Tuesday, Jan. 23, match-up against Penn State Beaver. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
