Hill Nets Career-High 29 Points in Win Over PSU Schuylkill

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - Junior Antonio Hill (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) scored 29 points to lead Penn State New Kensington men's basketball over Penn State Schuylkill Friday night in the PSNK Athletic Center. The teams battled down to the wire with New Kensington taking the final lead of 91-90 with just seconds left on the clock. New Kensington improves to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the PSUAC, while Schuylkill falls to 4-7 and 3-3. 

New Kensington took the lead less than three minutes into the game on a Wilson Rojas (Pittsburgh, Pa./Havelock) three-pointer that brought the score to 9-8. The Lions held onto the lead for the rest of the first half with the largest advantage of 19-10 coming after a jumper by Hill. New Kensington took that same 9-point lead into the locker rooms, 46-37. 

New Kensington held Schuylkill at bay until eight minutes into the second half when the visitors went on an 11-0 run the ended with them leading 65-64. The teams battled from there. With less than a minute remaining in the second half a Juwan Willis (Swissvale, Pa./Woodland Hills) made free-throw brought New Kensington to within one point. Schuylkill evaded New Kensington's attempts to stop the clock with a foul, but missed a layup that would have put them up by three. Freshman Mitchell Kuczynski ((Natrona Heights, Pa./St. Joseph) grabbed the rebound and heaved a full-court pass to Rojas who converted his layup opporunity to take the final lead with 3.3 seconds remaining. 

Hill finished with team-highs of eight rebounds and five assists to go with his 29 points. Junior Keith Corbett (Silver Springs, Md./Methodist U.) had 18 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Javon Turner (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) added 16 points and five assists. Willis finished with 13 points and five assists, while Rojas scored a career-high with 10 points.

New Kensington is back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 16 when they travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny for a 7:00 p.m. game.
