Men's Basketball Falls on the Road to Penn State Fayette

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. - Junior Antonio Hill (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) recorded his third double-double of the season, but the Penn State New Kensington men's basketball team fell at Penn State Fayette Tuesday, 75-65. New Kensington drops to 3-6 on the season and 1-3 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. Fayette improves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the PSUAC.

The two squads battled the entire game with no team leading by more than seven points until the last minute of the game. Fayette took the early lead of 14-8. Hill responded with a layup and a traditional three-point play to bring New Kensington within one point. Less than two minutes later, a steal by Hill resulted in a layup for senior Dorian Broadwater (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) that tied the game at 17. After exchanging the lead four times, Fayette pulled away for another six-point lead, 31-25. New Kensington rallied with an 8-0 run that sent the teams into the locker rooms with the visitors leading 33-31. 

Sophomore Juwan Willis (Swissvale, Pa./Woodland Hills) scored nine of New Kensington's first 13 points of the second half to help the Lions toward a seven-point advantge of 46-39, their biggest lead of the game. With less than nine minutes remaining, New Kensington began to see a 59-53 edge slip away. Fayette battled back and with 2:44 on the clock, they took the lead for good. A 12-2 run in the last minutes resulted in the final score of 75-65. 

Hill ended the game with 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Willis led New Kensington with 19 points, while Broadwater added 11 points. Fayette's Marvin Sidon led all players with 27 points. 

Penn State New Kensington will take over two weeks off before facing off against CCAC-Boyce at home on Thursday, Dec. 21. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
