WCCC Tops Lions in Men's Basketball

Youngwood, Pa. - The Penn State Men's Basketball team dropped a road game to Westmoreland County Community College Tuesday night on the campus of WCCC. The Lions' record falls to 1-2 on the season, while WCCC starts its season off at 1-0. 

The teams played very evenly in the first half with New Kensington taking a one-point advantage into the locker rooms. Senior Dorian Broadwater (Homestead, Pa./Steel Valley) scored 15 points in the half for the Lions, while sophomore Javon Turner (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver Falls) added 11 points. However, WCCC took control in the second half, outscoring New Kensington 61-42. 

Broadwater finished the night with 26 points, going 8-of-9 from the foul line. Sophomore Juwan Willis (Swissvale, Pa./Woodland Hills) chipped in with 18 points and six rebounds. Turner had team-highs of six steals and six assists to go along with 16 points. Junior Antonio Hill (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) put up 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while freshman Mitchell Kuczynski (Natrona Heights, Pa./St. Joseph) led the team with eleven boards. 

New Kensington returns to the court for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. On Friday, Nov. 10, they will face Penn Highlands Community College at 6:00 p.m. followed by Community College of Allegheny County-Boyce Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
