New Kensington Falls in Conference Opener

Lemont Furance- Penn State New Kensington traveled to Penn State Fayette to begin conference play Tuesday night. They did not get off to the start that they hoped, falling 85-63. From the beginning,  Penn State New Kensington was out of sync, possibly contributing to the absense of this season's leading scorer Dorian Broadwater (19 PPG).

New Kensington went on a few runs during the first half to keep the game close, but everytime it seemed they would break through, Fayette went on their own run. This lead to a 9 point halftime lead that proved to be too much to overcome for shorthanded New Kensington.

The second half Fayette kept their distance for most of it, as New Kensington could not get anything going. A lead that got as large as 32, was cut to 22 with a 12-2 run to end the game for New Kensington.

Michael Reece lead New Kensington coming off the bench with 24 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, shooting 10-16 from the field in what was his best game of the season to date. Jordan Williams contributed 12 points as he was the only other player for New Kensington in double figures.

Penn State New Kensington (3-5) will travel to Penn State York this Saturday.
