McKEESPORT, Pa. - Alex Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) led all golfers at the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational at Youghiogheny Country Club on Thursday. Smith had his best day of the season, shooting a 75 and helping his Lions place third. 

Smithwas followed by Derek Petrishin (Natrona Heights, Pa./St. Josheph,  whose 85 was good for a sixth place. Collin McCune (Lower Burrell, Pa./Gateway) was next for the Lions, coming in at twelfth with a 92. Freshman Mason Sullivan (Butler, Pa./Butler) wrapped up the team scoring for New Kensington with a 102. 

Smith, Petrish, McCune, and Sullivan have qualified to participate in the USCAA National Champions taking place Oct. 7-8. The two-day event is also host to the PSUAC Championship.
