Three Golfers Shoot Sub-80 at PSUAC Blue Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington golf team finished in fifth place at the PSUAC Blue Invitational behind sub-80 performance from three golfers. 

Derek Petrishen (Natrona Heights, Pa./St. Joseph) and Alex Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) each shot a four-over 76 to finish tied for fifth place in the field of 71 golfers. Collin McCune (Lower Burrell, Pa./Gateway) came in next for the Lions, shooting a 78 good for a tie at 10th place. 

Mason Sullivan (Butler, Pa./Butler) managed a 101 and was able to bring his average down enough to qualify for the fourth slot to compete in the PSUAC and USCAA Championships in October. Rounding out the squad was Justin Lin (Taipei, Taiwan) who shot a 116.

New Kensington heads back on the road on Thursday, Sept. 26, to take part in the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational at Youghiogheny Country Club at 12:00 p.m.
