Picking up where he left off in the regular season three years ago, Penn State New Kensington's Adam Stawski shot 75 on Sept. 26 to capture medalist honors by five strokes at the Brandywine Invitational at Edgmont Country Club in Edgemont, Pa.

Stawski, a junior math major, was a freshman in 2009 when he set a New Kensington campus individual scoring record with a four-under par 68 to win the Greater Allegheny Invitational at Butler's Golf Course-Woodside in Elizabeth. He went on to post-season glory, finishing as runner-up in the Penn State University Athletic Conference championships and fourth in the United State Collegiate Athletic Association national championships. He was named to the USCAA All-America and the PSUAC All-Conference teams. Stawski, the 2008 WPIAL (Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League) champion from Plum High School, sat out the past two seasons to concentrate on academics. He moves on to the Penn State University Park campus in the spring to complete his bachelor's degree studies.

As a team, the New Kensington Lions finished fifth in the eight-team, 45-player tournament. On the year, the team is 3-11 in the PSUAC. The golf team concludes its regular season on the road with a PSUAC tournament, the Hazelton Invitational, at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 1, at Valley Country Club in Sugarloaf, Pa. The New Kensington Lions have been rained out twice this season, Sept. 4 at Brookside Country Club in Allentown and Sept. 18 at Irem Country Club in Wilkes-Barre.

The PSUAC and USCAA 2012 championships are slated for Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 8-9, at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa. Stawski is one of the favorites in both tournaments.
