Tough loss on the road
Penn State New Kensington Drops High-Scoring Contest to Penn State Du Bois, 14–4
Despite a strong showing in the early innings, Penn State New Kensington couldn't hold off a powerful offensive surge from Penn State Du Bois, falling 14–4 in six innings during their latest matchup.
New Kensington took a 2–1 lead in the top of the 3rd thanks to a clutch 2-RBI double from Miguel Garcia that brought home Chris Magnee and Nat Greenslet, the latter also scoring on a Du Bois error. In the 5th, Bryan Calderon extended the lead with a two-run home run over the left field wall, giving New Kensington a 4–2 advantage and their second multi-run inning of the game.
However, the lead was short-lived. Du Bois responded with a seven-run outburst in the bottom of the 5th, fueled by a solo home run from Colby Bodtorf, a key double from Isaac Tiracorda, and multiple timely hits that capitalized on New Kensington miscues. The damage didn't stop there, as Du Bois tacked on six more runs in the 6th—including a 2-RBI double by Grant Lillard and a two-run homer by Hayden Vaughn—to end the game via the run rule.
