New Kensington Gets Swept Away by Concordia

AUBURNDALE, Fl. – In an early game against Concordia College (MN), Penn State New Kensington's baseball team was swept away, 28-1.

Not much action took place in the first inning for either teams. With one hit a piece, no runs were scored. In the second inning, Concordia got themselves four runs, but New Kensington couldn't respond back.

The score was 4-0 heading into the top of the third, and Concordia boosted their score with 10 more runs. When the Lions were up to bat, Darius Bennis (Leechburg, Pa./ Leechburg) was the first one on base after he got walked. Vinny Ribar (Apollo, Pa./ Kiski Area) had a hit that advanced him to first and then Reise Matson (Kittanning, Pa./ Armstrong) was walked. With the bases, loaded, Justin Lindeman (Murrsyville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) was walked and Bennis was able to score. With a run from the Lions, the score was then 14-1.

New Kensington was stuck with one run for the rest of the game, meanwhile Concordia put up several more within the next four innings.

Lindeman had one RBI and Josh Stuckley (Natrona Heights, Pa./ Highlands) finished the game with three strikeouts while pitching for two innings.

New Kensington will be back tomorrow to play against Grove City College and Saint Vincent at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. The games are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
