Baseball Finishes Season with Loss to Kent State Tuscarawas

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington could not overcome an early deficit and fell to Kent State Tuscarawas Friday afternoon, 7-5. New Kensington finishes its second season as a varsity sport with a record of 2-17. 

Tuscarawas struck early with three runs in the first inning. In the botton of the first, freshman Justin Lindeman (Murrysville, Pa.) singled and then scored on a double off the bat of freshman Alex Polka (Vandergrift, Pa.) to make the sore 3-1. New Kensington put up another run in the third on back-to-back singles by Vinny Ribar (Apollo, Pa.) and Jake Stackiewicz (Murrysville, Pa.). 

Tuscarawas scored another run in the fifith and two more in the seventh, before New Kensington answered with three of its own runs. Michael Dauer (Lower Burrell, Pa.) singled to start the inning and Lindeman came through with another base-hit. Dauer scored on Polka's second double of the game, before Noah Oddis blasted a a two-run double to bring New Kensington within one run, 6-5. Tuscarawas scored one more run in the ninth inning, closing the game out at 7-5. 

Polka finished with three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI, while Oddis talled two hits and two RBI. Darius Bennis (Leechburg, Pa.), Dauer, Lindeman, and Stackiewicz also had two hits a piece.
