New Kensington Falls to Beaver in PSUAC Baseball Double header

MONACA, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington battled Penn State Beaver Friday, losing a close game 6-5 before falling 10-2 in the night cap. New Kensington's record is now 1-9 and 0-6 in the PSUAC, while Penn State Beaver improves to 3-7, 2-0.

Beaver took the early lead, going up 3-0 after the first inning. In the second inning, back-to-back singles by Dylan Wiley (Murrysville, Pa.) and Michael Dauer (Lower Burrell, Pa.) set up an RBI opportunity for Darius Bennis (Leechburg, Pa.). Beaver picked up another run in the bottom of the inning to keep their lead at three.

In the top of the third, Shane Molyneaux (Murrysville, Pa.) reached on a bunt single to start the inning.  Jake Stackiewicz (Murrysville, Pa.) connected on his third triple of the season, scoring Molyneaux. Stackiewicz then scored on a single by Alex Polka (Vandergrift, Pa.). Beaver again answered back with two runs of their own, leaving the score 6-3 after three innings.

With two outs in the fifth inning, Ribar singled, followed by a double from Stackiewicz. Polka singled to right field, bringing home both Ribar and Stackiewicz and putting New Kensington within one run of the hosts. Beaver managed two perfect innings to hold on to the victory.

Polka had two hits and batted in three runs in the game. Ribar had two hits and stole two bases, while Stackiewicz also had two hits.  Dauer pitched four innings of relief and did not let up a run.

In game two, New Kensington got on the board first when Ribar walked to start the game and Stackiewicz doubled to drive him home. Justin Lindeman (Murrysville, Pa.) hit a single that sent Stackiewicz across the plate, giving New Kensington a 2-0 lead. New Kensington was held to four hits the rest of the way as Beaver pulled away to a 10-2 win. Lindeman finished with two hits.

New Kensington will finish up the season series with Beaver tomorrow. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at Valley High School in New Kensington.
