Unionville, PA---- Penn State Beaver suffered a tough loss this evening to Penn State New Kensington by a score of 4-3 in a game that ended in overtime. It was an entertaining contest that was well played throughout as New Kensington netted a goal with little time left in the first overtime period to claim the conference victory. Beaver took an early lead and went into halftime with a 3-1 lead. The first half hat trick from captain Tyler Blake (Crescent, Moon) gave Beaver the edge heading into the break. New Kensington battled back in the second half and gained momentum in the second half until they finally tied the score up at 3 just minutes before the end of regulation. Beaver had control for most of the first overtime session as they kept the ball in their end for the first few minutes but the game ended when New Kensington but the ball in the back of the net to claim the 4-3 overtime victory.
Blake's three goals were assisted by Mike Biskup (Aliquippa, Center), Mahmoud Helal (Cairo Egypt, Choueirat) and Brad Prosper (Aliquippa, Central Valley). After the loss, Beaver's conference record falls to 2-1 and they will be back at home on Saturday to play another conference opponent, Penn College, at 2pm.
