Dubois Takes Win from New Kensington Volleyball

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Now 3-12 overall, Penn State New Kensington women's volleyball was defeated by Penn State Dubois Wednesay night.

Falling 25-11, the first set was a downfall for New Kensington. They managed to score more points on Dubois during the second set, but it wasn't enough, and Dubois took the set 25-15. With New Kensington starting to get their motivation back, they went out onto the court with aggressive mindsets for the third set. Unfortunately, New Kensington faced an injury, leaving the team to take over new positions. Even with this change, the women managed to play well, but Dubois finished with the win, 25-18.

Although out for a portion of the last set, Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) still led in kills, putting down seven. Kierra Rose (Uniontown, Pa./ Uniontown) was right behind with six. Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell) posted seven digs to lead New Kensington, and Bethany Baney (Apollo, Pa./ Kiski Area) contributed six. Lindsey Hessom (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area) fueled the offense with 16 assists.

New Kensington will play against Penn State Shenango and Kent State Tuscarawas in a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 12 in hopes for a conference win. They will play Shenango at noon and Kent St. at 3 p.m.
