New Kensington Volleyball Falls to Beaver

MONACA, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington and Penn State Beaver women's volleyball went head to head in a PSUAC matchup. Beaver secured all three sets, leaving New Kensington ranked 0-7 in conference play.

New Kensington came off strong in the first set, earning several points ahead of Beaver for an early lead. Making almost impossible plays, New Kensington tried to maintain their position, but roles changed halfway through the set. Because of this, Beaver came out on top, 25-20. With New Kensington having the first serve in the second set, Beaver played back well and didn't lose sight of their lead this time. They took the game at 25-14. The third set showed off more of New Kensington's abilities, even though they fell 25-19.

Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) played aggressive offense, and led the Lions with 13 kills. On defense, Bethany Baney (Apollo, Pa./ Kiski Area) had nine digs, while Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell) and Kierra Rose (Uniontown, Pa./ Uniontown) each got eight. Baney also totaled up four service aces against Beaver.

The Lions will faceoff with Penn State Dubois on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The first serve will be at 7 p.m. in the New Kensington athletic center.
