Volleyball Trails in First PSUAC Matchup

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington's women's volleyball team took the long drive to Shippensburg last night to face off with Penn State Mont Alto. New Kensington ended up falling in three sets during their first PSUAC matchup.

The first set started off strong for the Lions, as they kept up with Mont Alto's pace. Mont Alto ended up pulling away and won 25-12. During the second set, Mont Alto placed a hold on New Kensington's play due to their float serves and spotting techniques. They pushed ahead 25-10, taking the second set away from New Kensington. New Kensington faced defeat again in the last set, 25-12.

Leading with ten kills and nine digs, Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) ran the court for New Kensington. Bethany Baney (Apollo, Pa./ Kiski Area) and Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell) followed with nine digs each. Surma added seven assists.
