Women's Volleyball Splits at Home PSUAC Quad Match

New Kensington, Pa. - The Women's Volleyball team split its matches on Sunday as the host of a Penn State University Athletics Conference quad match. Penn State Lehigh Valley swept the Lions in the first match, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16. New Kensington then turned around and swept Penn State Hazleton 25-16, 25-21, 25-15. 

Against Lehigh Valley, freshman Brittany Kotvas (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had six kills and ten digs and freshman Janet Surma (Lower Burrell, Pa.) contributed five kills and eleven digs. Fellow freshman Kaylea Flick (Murrysville, Pa.) chipped in with ten assists and six digs.

Kotvas and Suma again led the offense against Hazleton, contributing eleven and ten kills, respectively. Flick added eight kills and six service aces. Cora Rejniak (Gibsonia, Pa.) added five service aces. Flick helped the offense to one of its best performances of the year with 19 assists. Kotvas led the Lions with eight digs while Rejniak added six digs.

Penn State New Kensington is back in action on October 14 with they travel to Penn State Beaver for a tri-match. The will face host PSU Beaver at 11:00 a.m. and the Community College of Beaver County at 1:00 p.m.
