Kane, Eiler Earn PSUAC Honors

Abby Kane and Andy Eiler - PSUAC Softball All-Conference

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - Penn State New Kensington's Abby Kane (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) was named a Penn State University Athletic Conference all-conference honorable mention selection for her performance on the diamond this season. Sophomore Andrea Eiler (Moniteau, Pa./Eau Claire) was selected as the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award winner.

A sophomore catcher, Kane earned her spot after finishing the season ranked ninth in the PSUAC in batting average with a .418 as leadoff hitter. She started every game behind the plate for the Lions and earned her team's most dedicated athlete award. Kane racked up 23 hits and added 11 runs and seven RBI.

Eiler was honored with the Fritz Sportsmanship Award, given to student-athletes that set an example of sportsmanship and the Penn State Values, after stepping up as a leader on a very young New Kensington squad. Eiler is a sophomore pitcher who will finish her degree in animal sciences at University Park starting in the fall.

New Kensington, coached by Mike Marsili, finished the season with a 5-15 overall record.
