LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. - Penn State New Kensington softball dropped a pair of games to Penn State Fayette Friday afternoon. In the first game, a three run fifth inning propelled Fayette over New Kensington, while in game two, the hosts squeaked out a 4-3 win despite eleven hits by New Kensington.

Fayette put up runs in the second and third innings of game one to go up 2-0. New Kensington answered in the fourth with three runs of their own. Amanda Dynoske (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Rebecca Wilhelm (Leechburg, Pa.) started the inning with back-to-back singles. Fayette responded with three runs in the fifth to take the game 5-3.

In game two, New Kensington got on board in the first inning when Wilhelm singled and was brought around by another double by Williams. Stephanie Schrecengost (Rural Valley, Pa.) doubled to start the second inning, and a Dynoske base-hit brought her home to make the score 2-0 for New Kensington. However, Fayette managed a four run third inning to take the over the lead. New Kensington tried to put together a comeback in the seventh inning and scored one run, but left the bases loaded to end the game. The run came after Wilhelm and Williams singled to start the inning and Williams eventually scored on a single by Lauren Torgent (Brackenridge, Pa.).
