Penn State New Kensington Sweeps Trinity Washington University

New Kensington, PA-- The Penn State New Kensington Softball team played its first home series of the season by sweeping Trinity Washington University. PSNK took both games by the scores of 10-0 & 24-10 respectively. This marked a new era for the team playing on its new field at Alcoa Park.


Stephanine Fritzius pitched a gem in the opening game only allowing two hits, both to Saahirah Brown. In addition Fritzius fanned 13 batters and only surrended one walk. The bats came alive in the bottom of the 1st for PSNK scoring five runs. Rachel Lojas was the main contributor knocking in Brittney Wolford & Allison Nicklas. PSNK added some insurance runs in the 3rd when Nicklas, Wolford, and Madi Graham all knocked in RBI singles.

 

The 2nd game became a shootout between both teams bats, however PSNK proved to be to much taking the game in five innings. Graham turned in a great game at the plate knocking in four runs on four hits, while scoring four runs. Graham also managed to hit three doubles. Lojas accounted for five RBIs on three hits. Brittany Wolford contributed by posting three RBIs on two hits, and scoring three runs.

 

Penn State New Kensington will be back in action at the Aloca Softball Field this Saturday with a double-header against Penn State Hazelton. The first game will start at 2PM with the second starting at 4PM.
