Penn State New Kensington Spilts at Penn State Beaver

Monaca, PA- The Penn State New Kensington Softball team spilt a doubleheader with Penn State Beaver by taking the first game 12-5, and dropping the second game 16-1 on a cold Saturday afternoon.

Stephanine Fritzius pitched all seven innings in the first game of the doubleheader. She allowed 5 earned runs on 7 hits. In addition Fritzius fanned two Penn State Beaver batters. Things got rolling in the 1st inning when Rachel Lojas scored Brittany Wolford on a fielding error by the shortstop. Sabrina Johns scored Madison Graham on a single. The last score of the inning came when Shianne Bezts scored Lojas on a fielders choice.

At the top of the 7th inning Penn State New Kensington lead by a score of 8-2. The ladies rallyed to add an additional four runs to finish the game 12-5.

The second game of the double headed Rachel Lojas got off to a hot start by doubling in Wolford to start the game with a 1-0 lead. This would be the closest Penn State New Kensington would get to the lead dropping the second game 16-1

 

Penn State New Kensington (2-6) will host Penn State Worthington Scranton for a double header this Sunday. The first game will start at 12:00 PM at the Alcoa Softball.
