Lions end season with draw

Lehigh Valley, PA- New Kensington took to the road tonight for a showdown with third place PSU Lehigh Valley. Both teams played soundly on the defensive end in the first half, playing to a 0-0 tie at the break.

The Lions got the scoring started in the second half, as sophomore Ryan Wurzer (Lower Burrell, PA) netted the first goal of the contest on a great assist from sophomore Jordan Cooper (Fairfax, VA) in the 51st minute. Lehigh Valley responded in the 62nd minute, to knot the score at 1-1.

New Kensington reclaimed the lead in the 77th minute on a beautiful unassisted goal by freshmen Benjamin Gigliotti (Punxsutawney, PA). The Lions held the lead into the waning minutes of play, but Lehigh Valley notched the equalizer in the 88th minute.

The Lions finish the regular season with a record of 11-2-1 overall and 7-1-1 in conference play. New Kensington clinched a first-round bye for the PSUAC playoffs and will host the winner of PSU Mont Alto and PSU Lehigh Valley this Saturday, October 29th at the athletic field.
