Five Earn Spots on PSUAC Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - Five members of the Penn State New Kensington men's soccer team were honored on the Penn State University Athletic Conferene all-conference teams. Sophomore Brady Braun (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) and freshmen Gerald Butler Jr. (Brackenridge, Pa./Highlands) and Carlos Colindres (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) were selected for the first team, while senior Joshua Zakrzewski (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) and sophomore Benjamin Midlik (Hempfield Twp., Pa./Hempfield) were included on the second team.

Braun tied with teammate Colindres for third in the PSUAC with 12 goals and was also third in points with 29. His three game-winning goals were good for fourth in the conference, while his four assists put him at seventh. 

Butler was the the rock of the New Kensington defense this season and has had some game-winning tackles. He has also contributed two goals and and an assist.

Besides tying for third in goals, Colindres was also fifth in the PSUAC in points with 27. The forward was named the PSUAC Player of the Week on Sept. 17, after scoring five goals in two games for the Lions. 

Zakrzewski was big time in the net for New Kensington this season, coming up with 87 saves and five shutouts. He was named the PSUAC Goalie of the Week on Oct. 9, not allowing any goals in two games that week. 

Midlik had a tremendous year at center midfield, doing a great job of controlling the middle. He chipped in with two goals and three assists.

New Kensington, coached by Mark Duffield, finished the season with a 9-6 record overall and 7-2 in the PSUAC.
