Men’s Soccer Home Opener Ends in Loss

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington men's soccer hit the field for their first game of the season. Their home opener ended in a loss against Berkeley College (NJ), 3-0.

Senior Nate Andrews (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Sierra Catholic) started the pressure on Berkeley early off in the game with a shot on goal. Andrews had two more chances within the first half, but the score remained 0-0 at half time.

The tie would not last for long as Berkeley scored within the first two minutes of play in the second half. The Knights went on to score twice more to shore up the win.

Goalkeeper Joshua Zakrzewski (Finleyville, Pa./ Ringgold) made seven saves for New Kensington.

The men will host Pitt.-Johnstown on Thursday, Sept. 5. The game is to begin at 4 p.m.
