Men's Soccer downs Lehigh Valley, clinches third seed in PSUAC tournament

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington men's soccer team secured the third seed in the PSUAC tournament with a 3-1 victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley Sunday afternoon. New Kensington finishes the regular season with a 7-6 mark overall and 6-3 in conference play. Lehigh Valley stands at 3-6 overall and 3-4 in the PSUAC with two games left to play. 

Sophomore midfielder Andrew Perenic (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) continued his outstanding weekend scoring two of New Kensington's goals against Lehigh Valley, bringing him to five goals for the weekend. Junior Paul Kozuch (Ford City, Pa./Armstrong) scored the Lions' third goal with the helper coming from freshman Derek McCloud (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands).

Freshman goalkeeper Christopher Zolet (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) made 14 saves in net for the Lions.

New Kensington now awaits results of the remaining PSUAC schedule to find out who it will face in the first round of playoffs. The team will host that game on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at a time to be announced.
