New Kensington Men's Soccer Stumbles at Beaver

NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington men's soccer team dropped a crucial game to conference foe Penn State Beaver Tuesday afternoon, 4-1. New Kensington's record now stands at 5-6 overall and 4-3 in the conference, while Beaver improves to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in the PSUAC.

Beaver held the advantage in shots in the first half, 12-4, converting one of those shots for the lone goal of the period. New Kensington came out of the gates fast in the second half, scoring just two minutes in. Junior Nate Andrews (Pittsburgh, Pa./Sierra Catholic) scored on a pass from Andrew Perenic (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) to knot the score at 1-1. The tie was short-lived as Beaver's Kevin Colindres found the back of the net less than two minutes later. That goal would prove to be the game-winner as Beaver went on to score two more, making the final score 4-1.

Freshman Christopher Zolet (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) made 13 saves for New Kensington.

The Lions will travel across state for their last two regular season games, facing Penn State Scranton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday before heading to Penn State Lehigh Valley Sunday for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff. New Kensington currently sits in third place in the PSUAC rankings and will look to hold on for home field advantage in the playoffs.
