New Kensington Shuts Out Hazleton in Men's Soccer

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington men's soccer team picked up its second win of the weekend with a 2-0 victory over Penn State Hazleton. With the win, New Kensington improves to 3-3 and 2-1 in the PSUAC. Hazleton drops to 1-5-1 and 0-2 PSUAC. 

Sophomore midfielder Andrew Perenic found the back of the net for his second goal of the weekend and fourth of the season in the 22nd minute to put New Kensington on top 1-0. 

With seconds left in the first half, junior midfielder Nate Andrews lofted a corner kick that deflected off a Hazleton defender and into net to give New Kensington the 2-0 advantage. 

Defense was the name of the game in the second half as neither team was able to score.

Freshman goalkeeper Christopher Zolet (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) produced five saves in his third shut-out of the season.

New Kensington will return for another home game on Tuesday, Sept. 25. The Lions will face Penn State Wilkes-Barre at 4:00 p.m.
