Penn State New Kensington sophomore Dan Smith (Central Catholic) shot a one-over 73 today to earn medalist honors at the Bernie Guss Classic at the Links at Spring Church. The tournament featured Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) teams Penn State Dubois and Penn State Fayette. As a team, the New Kensington Lions finished with a 332 total, taking second place behind DuBois(310) and Fayette (333). The 73 was Smith's third consecutive round in the 70s this year. Smith was an All-PSUAC selection a year ago, after a fifth-place finish in the PSUAC championships. New Kensington's next match is 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25 for the PSUAC Invitational at the Penn State White Course in State College, Pa.
