Richardson, Rojas Earn All-PSUAC Accolades

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. - Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa.Seton LaSalle) was receieved Penn State University Athletics Conference honorable mention honors as announced today by the league office. Additionally, Wilson Rojas (Pittsburgh, Pa./Havelock) was the team's recipient of the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award.

Richardson, a freshman small forward/guard, made a big impact for Penn State New Kensington this season, ranking in the top ten in total points, points per game and rebounds per game. His 430 total points were good for sixth in the conference while his 22.2 points per game ranked him seventh. He was also eight in the PSUAC in rebounds per game with 6.9. Richardson scored in the double digits in all but three games, racked up nine double-doubles, and had nine games with over 20 points. His career-high of 31 points came against CCAC-Boyce on Nov. 10, 2018. Richardson was named PSUAC Player of the Week on Dec. 11, 2018 after averaging 24 points per game and 13 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for New Kensington.

Rojas, a junior guard, is receiving the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award for the second time. This award is presented to one student-athlete on each team that represents good sportsmanship and upholds the core values of Penn State -  Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, Excellence and Community. While sitting out the first half of the season due to injury, Rojas, one of the team captains, kept his spirits up and used his time on the bench to mentor and guide the young New Kensington team. An exemplary student-athlete and team player, Rojas serves on New Kensington's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
