Mont Alto Takes Down New Kensington in Men’s Basketball

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – In a men's basketball game against Penn State Mont Alto, Penn State New Kensington couldn't get a win, 98-72. New Kensington is now 7-15 overall and 3-13 in conference play.

Throughout the first half of play, each team took the lead several times. With so much back and forth scoring, Brian Davidson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ North Catholic) stood out for the Lions with 12 points. Not only did Davidson lead in points, but he also led in rebounds, five. Brent Ivory (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) and Lamar Lewis (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Carrick) both put up seven points, and Ivory had four rebounds. Although New Kensington maintained a lead for a while, it was Mont Alto who came out on top at the end of the half, 42-41.

New Kensington played to keep the score close during the second half, but Mont Alto eventually broke away. For New Kensington, Ivory pushed ahead with 11 points, and Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) had eight. Thomas Gilmore (Sharon, Pa./ Grit Sports Academy) and Jamison Nee (Natrona Heights, Pa./ Highlands) each contributed six points, and Gilmore led in rebounds, five.

Ivory produced the most points for the Lions, 18, and had seven rebounds. Richardson added up 14 points, six rebounds and two steals. Davidson and Gilmore both put in 12 points, and Gilmore led with eight rebounds.

Penn State New Kensington will take on Penn State Beaver Feb. 14 at 8 p.m.
