New Kensington Takes Loss in Men's Basketball

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Penn State New Kensington took a loss against Penn State Greater Allegheny in men's basketball, 106-78. New Kensington is 7-14 overall and 3-12 in conference play. 

Greater Allegheny broke away from the score early in the first half, but New Kensington kept putting up points to lessen their lead. Brent Ivory (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) led the Lions in the half with 12 points. Ivory was five for five with free throws and had a three pointer. Thomas Gilmore (Sharon, Pa./ Grit Sports Academy) had the most rebounds, six, and produced nine points. Brian Davidson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ North Catholic) also reached nine points. The Lions had an impressive free throw accuracy of 92.3%. At halftime, New Kensington was short 56-39. 

New Kensington spent the second half trying to catch up to Greater Allegheny. Davidson put up the most points for the Lions, 13. He knocked in four jump shots and five free throws. Gilmore scored eight and led in rebounds, six. Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) tallied up seven points and two rebounds. 

Davidson led the Lions with 22 points. Ivory had 18 and nine rebounds. Gilmore put in 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. 

On Tuesday, Jan. 12, New Kensington will take on Penn State Mont Alto at 8 p.m.
