New Kensington Unable to Catch Up to Hazleton in Men’s Basketball

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington's men's basketball team couldn't catch up to Penn State Hazleton in a home PSUAC matchup, 75-49. New Kensington moves to 7-12 overall and 3-10 in conference play.

Hazleton started the first half with a 9-0 lead on New Kensington until Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) tipped one in for the Lions. He tallied up 14 points and nine rebounds in the first half. Jamison Nee (Natrona Heights, Pa./ Highlands) began his scoring streak with a three-pointer made to try and close in on Hazleton, 17-14. Nee put in 11 points and had eight rebounds in the first half. At the end of the first half, Hazleton was up 35-28.

Thomas Gilmore (Sharon, Pa./ Grit Sports Academy) began the scoring for New Kensington in the second half with a layup. Lamar Lewis (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Carrick) and Brian Davidson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ North Catholic) led with six points each, and Lewis had four rebounds. Nee also added points to the board, four, and was quick on defense with two steals.

With 17 points, Richardson led the Lions and was able to grab 14 rebounds. Nee was right behind with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Penn State New Kensington returns to action against Penn State Fayette on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m.
