Lions Fall to Shenango in Men's Basketball

SHARON, Pa. — Penn State New Kensington's men's basketball team fell behind Penn State Shenango in tonight's game, 127-64. New Kensington moves to 7-10 overall and 3-8 in the conference. 

Shenango got a head start on New Kensington, and the Lions did everything they could to push for more points. Thomas Gilmore (Sharon, Pa./ Grit Sports Academy) led in points during the first half, nine, and had two steals. Brent Ivory (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) produced six points, three of which were free throws. Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) and Brian Davidson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ North Catholic) also added points to the board, four each. The half ended with Shenango up 72-26. 

By the second half, New Kensington really had to push if they wanted to close in the gap on Shenango. Scoring 12, Lamar Lewis (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Carrick) put up the most points in this half and grabbed two rebounds. Gilmore contributed eight points, and Ivory made seven while adding three rebounds. 

In the end, Gilmore scored the most points of the night, 17. Ivory totaled up 13, and Lewis ended with 12 made during the second half. Lewis led in rebounds for the Lions, four. 

Penn State New Kensington will head to Penn State Beaver tomorrow night Jan. 30. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
