NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington came up short this afternoon against Penn State Greater Allegheny in men's basketball, 101-86. The Lions' record is now 6-7 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Greater Allegheny pulled to the front during a short few minutes of play, 6-0, but after New Kensington called a timeout, the Lions began putting up points on the board. Thomas Gilmore (Sharon, Pa./ Grit Sports Academy) was the high scorer of the half, knocking in nine points, and led in rebounds, four. Brent Ivory (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) and Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) both added six points to the score. Four of Richardson's points were free throws made around midpoint. Brian Davidson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ North Catholic) was able to add to the team's score with five points. At the end of the first half, Greater Allegheny was ahead 47-35.

Once again, Greater Allegheny added to the score before New Kensington in the second half. With great efforts, the Lions continued to battle back and produced more points than they had in the first half. Ivory hit 12 points, and Jamison Nee (Natrona Heights, Pa./ Highlands) added 10. Lamar Lewis (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Carrick) and Gilmore both sunk nine points, and Gilmore took hold of seven rebounds.

Ivory and Gilmore put up the most points for the team during the game, 18 each. In addition, Gilmore led in rebounds, 11, and Ivory was right behind with eight. Nee totaled to 14 points, and Lewis made nine.

Penn State New Kensington will face off at home with Penn State Lehigh Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18.
