Lions Fall to Penn State Beaver in Men's Basketball

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State New Kensington Lions fell behind Penn State Beaver in tonight's game, 92-68. New Kensington is now 6-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

During the first half of play, Beaver took the lead, but New Kensington made great strides to improve their score in hopes of closing the gap. By midpoint, the Lions were only down by two, putting the score at 15-13. Tavarski Wardlow (Round Rock, Tx/ Hendrickson) tallied up eight points and Brent Ivory (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle), along with Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle), put up five in the first half. Beaver was ahead 45-26 at halftime.

New Kensington kicked off the second half with two free throws from Ivory. Ivory and Richardson both hit double digits in this half, scoring 14 and 11 points respectively. In addition, Lamar Lewis (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Carrick) added seven points to the Lions' score along with two assists to aid the team.

Ivory carried the team by contributing 19 points to the final score, and Richardson finished with 16. Richardson also retrieved 10 rebounds.

Penn State New Kensington will face Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday, January 12. The game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
