Fayette Stays Ahead of New Kensington in Men's Basketball

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington's men's basketball team fell short in tonight's matchup against Penn State Fayette, 115-85. New Kensington is now 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

After a few minutes of intense play, Fayette was up 10-0 and, despite New Kensington efforts, maintained its lead throughout the rest of play. Three New Kensington players scored in double digits in the first half: Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton LaSalle) and Jamison Nee (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) each had three, while Thomas Gilmore added eleven. Even so, the Lions found themselves down by eleven at halftime, 52-41. In the second half, Fayette was able to build on its lead and went on to win 115-85.

Nee led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds, while Gilmore, playing in his first collegiate game, was close behind with 21 points. Richardson put up a total of 17 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Penn State New Kensington will take on Penn State Beaver at home this Wednesday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m.
