York Hands New Kensington Loss in Men's Basketball Action

YORK, Pa. - Penn State New Kensington men's basketball lost at the hands of Penn State York Friday night, 88-75. New Kensington is now 3-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while York improves to 4-1 overall, 1-1 PSUAC.

York managed to pull away early, building a 22-9 lead within the first eight minutes of play. New Kensington made continuous attempts to eliminate the deficit, but every string of points the Lions put together was then matched by York.

The two teams played a much more even second half with York just holding a one point advantage over the stretch. After a triple by Brent Ivory (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) and a jumper by Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle), New Kensington pulled within six with less than three minutes left on the clock. However, York went on an 8-2 run to close out the game.

Richardson led the Lions with game-high 18 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Ivory posted 13 points. Freshman guard Lamar Lewis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) netted 12 points and swiped three steals.

New Kensington will travel to Westmoreland County Community College on Wednesday, Dec. 5, for a non-conference match-up. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m.
