Lions Tripped Up by Mont Alto in PSUAC Opener

MONT ALTO, Pa. -  In the opening night of Penn State University Athletic Conference action, Penn State New Kensington's men's basktball team stumbled on the road to host Penn State Mont Alto, 86-66. The loss brings the Lions' overall record to 3-3 while Mont Alto now sits at 4-1. 

The game remained close until midway through the first half when Mont Alto began to pull away, extending its lead to 17 points at the half. New Kensington played a much better second half, but were not able to overcome the deficit created in the first half. 

Junior guard Tavon Ngangum (Silver Spring, Md./Prince George's CC) led New Kensington with 14 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Brent Ivory (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) produced 12 points from the free throw line on 15 attempt, while fellow freshman Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) added 10 points. Lamar Lewis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) and Jamison Nee (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) rounded out the scoring with nine points a piece. 

New Kensington will look to bounce back against Penn State York on Friday, Nov. 30. Tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. in the Ruhl Center on York's campus.
