JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. - The Penn State New Kensington men's basketball team dropped two close contests in the Quality Inn Invitational at Davis College over the weekend. On Friday, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry beat the Lions 88-85. On Saturday, Christendom College was able to edge out New Kensington 73-68 in the consolation game.

Against SUNY-ESF, New Kensington held a 54-40 advantage at half-time but could not hold on for the victory. Freshman Carrington Smith (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) had team-highs of 23 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Freshman guard Brent Ivory (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) had 19 points and seven assists, while fellow freshman Jakob Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) had 18 points and grabbed seven boards. Junior Tavon Ngangum (Silver Spring, Md./Prince George's CC) added 13 points and contributed seven assists.

In the loss to Christendom, Ngangum and Smith each netted 19 points with Smith adding team-highs in rebounds with six and steals with four. Ivory chipped in with sixteen points.

New Kensington will take the week off and return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 27, when the Lions travel to Penn State Mont Alto for their Penn State University Athletic Conference opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
