New Kensington Golfers have Strong First Outing

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State New Kensington golf team competed in its first tournament of the season, the PSUAC White Invitational at the Penn State Golf Courses Thursday afternoon. The Lions finished eighth out of twelve teams with a team score of 349. 

Freshmen Alex Smith (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) was the top finisher for New Kensington, posting 77 and finishing in 7th place. Sophomore Derek Petrishen (Natrona Heights, Pa./St. Joseph) came in just behind Smith with a 78 good for 8th place overall.  

Junior Collin McCune (Lower Burrell, Pa./Gateway) shot a 81 which landed him in 14th place.

Freshmen Justin Lin (Taipei, Taiwan) and Mason Sullivan (Butler, Pa./Butler) each shot a 113 to round out the scoring. 

New Kensington is back in action on Monday, Sept. 9, when they travel to the Penn State DuBois Invitational. Shotgun start is at 10:00 a.m.
