Penn State New Kensington Takes Commanding Win Over Penn State Beaver in Game 4 of Weekend Series
MONACA, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington showcased their offensive firepower and strong pitching to secure an 11-2 victory over Penn State Beaver in Game 4 of the four-game weekend series. Playing on the road at Beaver, New Kensington capitalized on key errors and timely hitting to control the contest from start to finish.
Early Lead for New Kensington
The visiting Nittany Lions wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the second inning. Bryan Calderon reached on a fielder's choice, bringing home two runs after an error by Beaver's second baseman. Shortly after, Karter Weitzel added another RBI on a fielder's choice, extending the lead to 3-0.
Penn State Beaver responded in the bottom half of the inning when Nicholas Campbell doubled to drive in two unearned runs, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
New Kensington Breaks Away
New Kensington continued their offensive surge in the third inning with back-to-back doubles from Jobeth Diaz Osorio and Thomas Santiago Jr., each bringing in a run to stretch the lead to 5-2.
The fourth inning saw the visitors widen the gap, with Nat Greenslet's two-run single and Miguel Garcia's RBI double pushing the lead to 8-2.
Late Insurance Runs & Strong Pitching
In the fifth, Karter Weitzel executed a well-placed sacrifice groundout to score another run, followed by a Vaughn Gallicano RBI single to make it 10-2. New Kensington tacked on their final run in the seventh after a fielding error allowed Calderon to score.
On the mound, Chris Magnee earned the win for Penn State New Kensington, tossing three strong innings, allowing just two unearned runs on two hits while striking out three. AJ Demharter came in for relief and shut down Beaver's offense over four innings, surrendering just two hits while fanning five batters.
Meanwhile, Beaver's pitching struggled to contain New Kensington's bats. Starter Kairu Fujinuma took the loss, giving up three earned runs in just one inning of work. Relievers Nicholas Hayes and Jacob Gresham were unable to stop the bleeding as New Kensington piled on runs throughout the game.
