Beaver Triumphs Against New Kensington Baseball
NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington baseball took on Penn State Fayette in a seven inning game, but fell 11-1.
Fayette batted first and got two runs in the first inning. They scored four more in the top of the third, which put them ahead 6-0. New Kensington was unable to bring in any runs during those innings.
In the bottom of the fourth, Tyler Elliot (Jeannette, Pa./ Jeannette) doubled. He then made his way to third, and scored when Reise Matson (Kittanning, Pa./ Armstrong) singled to left center.
The score read 6-1 heading into the fifth inning.
Fayette scored five runs in this inning, putting the score at 11-1, the final score. For the last two innings, neither team scored.
While pitching for 3.2 innings, Nicholas Baker (Monessen, Pa./ Monessen) struck out three.
New Kensington and Fayette will face off next in a double header on Sat., April 13 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
