NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – In a matchup against Penn State Mont Alto, Penn State New Kensington faced the loss at home, 11-0.

The first inning started off slow for both teams, as neither scored any runs. Mont Alto then ran in two in the top of the second and three in the third. The score was 5-0 by the time New Kensington was up to bat in the bottom of the third.

With two outs, Darius Bennis (Leechburg, Pa./ Leechburg) singled to third base, but a third out for New Kensington left him on first. Once again, Mont Alto scored in the fourth inning, four, and bumped up their lead, 9-0. New Kensington was unable to get any runs following the opposing team.

In the top of the fifth, Mont Alto only scored one, but it was enough to get them to 10 runs. When it was New Kensington's turn to bat, Christopher Rendulic (Port Vue, Pa./ South Allegheny) singled to right center. Noah Oddis (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell) doubled, but Rendulic faced an out. Oddis eventually made his way to third base, but the Lions got their last out before he could score their first run.

Mont Alto finished the last inning with one run and took the win.

Freshman Nicholas Baker (Monessen, Pa./ Monessen) struck out two while pitching for 2.1 innings, and Oddis hit the only double of the game.
